Paul's Eye Color

Another hot topic for discussion seems to be the color of Paul's eyes. My good friend kazu, who has www.paulisnotdead.com has a very good section about Paul's eye color posted on his site. To quote from that page, kazu writes, "In 1964, Teen Screen Life Story printed a magazine all about Paul. It contained interviews with Paul and the other Beatles on Paul. Notice how he states his eye color is hazel. I would also like to point out that he actually states that his hair is black, though people mistakenly say it is brown. This is important, because it demonstrates that people make mistakes about his physical characteristics." There are image scans of the page from that magazine posted along with this commentary, and rather than be redundant by posting it here, I think it would be very good for people to just go to that site and look for themselves.

There are those who will say that "Paul's" eye color was more brown and that we don't really see a distinctive greenish hue in his eyes until after 1966, when "Faul" comes into the picture. Under intense television lights (Hey Jude Video) his eyes were quite greenish. There are other photos of him where ambient light levels are such that the cameras were able to capture his hazel eyes. And admittedly there are also plenty of other pictures where his eyes appear very brown, or even darkest brown...and forget about trying to see the shade of his eye color in all of the old black and white photos.

Help! 1965

I recently came across a few more images, one of which probably dates back to 1963 or 1964, where you can make a very good up close comparison of his eye color. I have made comparisons with a cropped and enlarged portion of the older photo with close ups from the Fool On The Hill video.

There are still those who will say that "Faul" wore colored lenses to make his eye color match, but most comments like this were made before we had the photo above available to compare. Everyone seems to assume "Paul" had brownish eyes while "Faul's" have more of a green tint. To further counter the colored lens theory I have searched the internet, and other sources, to see when colored lenses were even available and so far I don't see anything that dates colored lenses before 1980. The three images above are from 1967 and earlier. I seriously doubt if he WAS wearing lenses in the Fool On The Hill video that he would allow the camera to get so close because you would be able to see them, particularly when he moves his eyes from side to side. (Can you see any plastic surgery scars?)

It would also be a bit foolish not to take into consideration variances in film processing. Sometimes colors don't turn out the same between processors. And the above comparison is made between a photograph taken indoors under artificial lighting and a movie which was shot outdoors in a more natural lighting situation. However, there is NO vast difference in eye color which many people assume.

Other Interesting Images And Fades

I will now digress a little and discuss some other photos and fades which have been posted in various places on the internet, both in support of PID, and in PIA. I have to say now that there are some really tallented graphic artists out there in cyberland who have produced some really amazing images for our consumption...however, as I have already pointed out, some of them have been manipulated to prove their point.

1. I just LOVE this fade on the left because now everyone knows that the old Bill pic has been flipped which makes this fade invalid. Notice how the newer picture of Paul fades "into" the silhouette of the Bill pic, giving the illusion that the hair and shape of the top of the head is the same. Notice also how the eye sockets and the ear spacing don't match due to the dissimilar symmetry of the shape of the head between the flipped pic and the overlay...and the nose shifts to the left of the picture...first it points at you, then to your left. Coupled with the fact that Paul's features are now that of a "Seasoned Citizen" and looks a bit different at sixty-something then he did in his twenties, it would be quite easy to suggest the overlay pic is of someone else. 2. And, of course, this second one doesn't work either because of two things, the Bill pic is flipped, and this particular Sgt Pepper image is elongated and will never match with any image you put on it...not EVEN the Bill pic in it's correct horizonal orientation. 3. This third one just almost works, but the overlay picture never fades in 100% and you cannot clearly tell that his upper lip in the overlay pic doesn't have nearly as much of a mustache on it as the fade would lead you to believe. Plus the top of the head in either pic doesn't match and Macca's face is much fuller and rounder in the overlay pic.

Yes, Paul is calling it like he is seeing it...STUPID! Again, there is NO WAY that Sgt Pepper image from the 1987 CD will EVER match ANYTHING because it was stretched! I posted the overlay pic here also so you can see that Paul didn't have nearly the 5 O'Clock shadow on his upper lip as that previous fade would have you to believe. You see, it's that kind of little subtle suggestion which will cause people to see something that isn't really there.

LOOK, MA! NO EARS!
This has got to be one of the most funny PID/60if fades of all time. One of the problems with doing photo fades is getting Paul's ears to line up convincingly, and that applies for both sides of the argument. The TKIN solution to this problem is "Just don't show his ears in the overlay". Yea, that's real conclusive and manipulative. The spies pic won't match because the pepper pic is stretched...DUH!
As things evolve on the PID side of the debate, so does this site. I have decided to expose more of the misleading fades and arguments from the TKIN/PID side and therefor have incorporated another page on this site in order to facilitate this action. I suppose this site could grow even more in the future as the insanity continues. I'm totally amazed at how something that has been around so long continues to fester in the ways that it does. Even more amazing to me is how many very young people who were not even thought of as far back as 1970 have joined in on the debate on both sides...some of them have even been instigators. That's quite alright because as long as young people are taking an active interest in this debate, there will always be enough of us who were around during the time the Beatles enjoyed their most success who have insights to share with them to help them realize the truth of the matter. There are some very bright young people getting in on the debate, too!
